One thing our Sea Tow captains across the country pride themselves on is their commitment to the next generation of boaters. Whether it’s holding safe boating classes, sponsoring children’s charity events or setting up Sea Tow Foundation Life Jacket Loaner Stations around their local waters, our captains are always looking for ways to foster the love of boating that we all share.
Capt. Ramsey Chason – owner and head captain of Sea Tow Cape & Islands in Massachusetts – takes that same commitment to young adults entering the workforce.
Just last month, he and his crew attended a career fair at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy campus in Buzzards Bay, where they met with dozens of smart young men and women who have bright futures ahead of them. He joined countless other local businesses, including construction companies, engineering firms, shippers, hotel chains, and many more. It was a great opportunity to show these young men and women the merits of joining the marine industry workforce.
Oftentimes, the maritime industry is overlooked as a career path. With countless opportunities available, it’s a rewarding field. Not many jobs allow people to spend their days in and around the water and consider it work. Jobs are abundant, pay is great and there’s remarkable job security.
Every year, we see men and women trade-in their desk chairs for a captain’s seat. After all, who would rather spend their day behind a desk counting down the minutes until five o’clock, when you could spend the day soaking in the sun, cruising local waters, and helping people enjoy boating?
